A Balance Resolutions For 2009

Today is the 1st day of the year, as the Gregorian calendar says. Many take opportunity to plan ahead, identifying what we really want to achieve in the next 365 days.

Some, like NH, decided not to have a New Year Resolution but a Life Resolution instead. A dazzling move, but I choose to stick to the conventional way. Call me old fashion, but I have my own reasons. Measureable goals against time are crucial to me. It’s for progressive & continuous development.  

You sure have heard of SMART goal haven’t you? Well now they’ve made it SMARTER. The goal must also be Enjoyable and Rewarding.

Having said about resolution, in time like this, people tend to set their resolutions in one area of interest. The more important aspects of life being neglected unnoticed. At the end, one whole year pass through without us having a balance growth.

I thought of sharing some knowledge I learnt sometimes back. It was from a compulsory course I attended at Eastin Hotel, PJ. I can’t remember the name of the guru who thought me this, but it does help me plan my growth in a more balance way. I did mentioned briefly about these 6 key areas in my 2nd entry. 

According to him, these are the 6 areas to focus in order to become a total person (not in any particular order):

1.       Financial & Career

2.       Physical & Health

3.       Social & cultural

4.       Family & Home

5.       Mental & Education

6.       Spiritual & Ethical

A tip from me, don’t overload yourself with too many resolutions. Fatigue and disappointment may come. Be Realistic; it’s the 4th element in the SMARTER goal. You may specify two or three from each category, as long as they’re attainable.

    I haven’t set my goals yet. But things must surely be better than last year.
