How To Jailbreak iPhone Using QuickPWN?

Question: First of all, why need to jailbreak?

Answer: To give you access to tones of FREE apps.. it’s like modifying Sony PS2 to read & play pirate disc.. hehe <– (wicked laugh)

You can do it yourself. It’s quite easy. I just did mine.. :)   Here’s how:

Step 1: You must have Firmware 2.2.1 and QuickPWN software. If you don’t, this guide would be useless. Bookmark this page, then come again once you’re ready.. ;)

Step 2: On your desktop, create a folder called Pwnage. Put a copy of Firmware 2.2.1 and QuickPWN 2.2.1

Step 3: Unzip QuickPWN.

Step 4: Make sure you have the very latest version of iTunes. It’s extremely important! If you don’t, download and install it. After installation, restart your computer. This is a very important step!

Step 5: Plug your iPhone to your computer and wait for iTunes to detect it. Now you have 2 options. You can either update to 2.2.1 or restore your iPhone to 2.2.1. Some prefer restoring as it will start with a fresh and clean firmware and it will not create wasted space on your iPhone. It’s your choice. To restore, simply hit SHIFT + Restore. A window will pop up asking you to choose what firmware you want to use to restore. Use the firmware 2.2.1 you downloaded in step 1.

Step 6: After restoring, close iTunes (very important!) while keep your iPhone plugged in to PC via USB. Launch QuickPWN. QuickPWN should recognize your device automatically.

Step 7: Click “Browse” to select the firmware 2.2.1 you downloaded in step 1.

Step 8: QuickPWN will display a green checkmark if the firmware is correct. In this case, click the blue arrow to continue. If it’s not, it means that you have downloaded the wrong firmware.

Step 9: Now QuickPWN will let you install Cydia, Installer, and custom boot logos. Note that you HAVE TO install Cydia but Installer and custom boot logos are optional. So make sure you select at leastCydia, then click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 10: QuickPWN will now ask you to “please make sure your device is connected via USB before continuing”. Click the blue arrow to continue.

Step 11: This is the most important step! QuickPwn will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode. Once it is in recovery mode you will be prompted to:

  1. Hold the Home button for 5 seconds,
  2. Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds,
  3. Then release the Power button while continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode.

Watch the prompts carefully and follow along!

Step 12: If you did this correctly, QuickPWN will detect your iPhone in recovery mode and will ask you to “wait while your iPhone is prepared for jailbreaking”.

Step 13: As a final step, QuickPWN will tell you that “the pwnage process appears to have completed successfully. Please wait for your device to reboot in its newly modified state”.

Step 14: Voila! You’re done.. go to Cydia and download whatever you want for FREE!! :P

  26. Bro, you buy this 2.7k but it is not legally unlocked version? It is quite expensive then, cause legally unlocked (no need jailbreak) is cost that much too.

  27. budeen on Thu, 12th Mar 2009 3:35 pm
  28. @ zaki blogjer, mine is legally / official / factory unlock.. i pwnage (jailbreak) just to get cydia.. i can restore / upgrade to any firmware anytime & it won’t lock..

software unlock is cheaper coz it will lock when u update firmware rite?? and for certain cases after certain number of updates, it will lock permanently.. that’s what i know..

hope i answer you.. correct me if i’m wrong..
and thanks for your comment anyway.. :)

  30. Recovery restores data…

Data recovery software means discounts for everyone at least compared to services. Undelete will cost you a couple of days of lunch money while a full blown data recovery product will set you back more. A data recovery agent can be contacted for in-lab…

  42. I just installed slingplayer for iPhone 3g which has been isolated to wifi hotspots. I understand there is a jailbreak function that makes the phone “think” its on wifi and will thus, allow you to stream tv via slingbox over 3g.
