‘Resolving Host’ Problem
Today is Friday, supposed to be a day full of blessing. Well, not for me. Not quite…
I’ve been bothered with this tiny little problem for quite sometimes. Initially it happens once in a while, but lately becomes more and more often. Today it hit me to the max. I can’t access my own blog!!
Let me ask you this: How would you feel if you can’t access your blog for 1 hour? Still OK? How about 2 hours? Blood boiling? Let’s make it half a day.. can you still be calm? Yes you can.. coz you are an angel from the seventh heaven. I’m not, but I hope I can still contain myself from doing anything stupid…
Before I forgot, I must thank ~life4hire~ for his kind effort & willingness to help me out on this. We had a long discussion last nite, lasted until 1.30am. I appreciate everything he taught me. Unfortunately, the problem still occur..
These were what I got when i entered budeen.com in my browser between 2.30pm until 5pm today:
- In Chrome “Oops! The link appears broken.” & ”DNS Error. Cannot find server“
- In Firefox “Address not found. Firefox can’t find the server at www.budeen.com.
I’ve tried using openDNS as adviced by ~life4hire~ but to no avail. (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220). When I nslookup at C prompt, this was what I get:

I’m also puzzled why can’t i suddenly upload image file?
Hey, what the hell is happening here!?? *^%^$*@^$
Great!! This complete a ‘perfect’ day for me..
Will this be published?? Presto!!!
EC & Kuala Terengganu By-Election
If you are Malaysian, or staying in Malaysia, you should have known there’s no other topic in the country’s political scene hotter than the Kuala Terengganu by-election.
The EC had announced the result few hours ago.

Here’s what budeen.com would have to say:
1. To the winner – Congratulation! It’s always nice to win. Please stop the celebration now & start working right away!! Serve the voters, show them you worth the seat! The real victory is when the people win their rights!
2. To the losers – You can still contribute to the community in your own way. So much can be offered to help the people. You might lose the seat, but still could pay back your supporters’ faith. Why not?
……………….
OK! We’ve cover that part plain & simple. Budeen.com would like to bring its fellow readers to another side of story. About the EC (Election Commision).. hehe!
Have you visited the EC Official Website? If not, you should!
It looks extremely dry. Here’s what I mean:
NUMBER ONE: The welcome page gives you language option. Good! We’re given a choice to browse in our preferred tongue. Try choose Bahasa Inggeris. You’ll discover it is sooooooo English! see here!
NUMBER TWO: ‘Latest Information’ column is still dated 18 March 2008. Wow! What an update! Thanks for bringing me the latest info! see here
NUMBER THREE: Errr.. I’ve watched TV & read many reports from the internet. But I want to see the official result of the by-election from the Official Website of Election Commission of Malaysia. Alas! I can’t find it! Owh! It’s Saturday. I forgot that. You guys will surely update it on Monday rite? Sorry to bother you…
While various organizations offer web-based live update on the by-election, it’s a huge let down to see EC official website remains static.
Our leaders are promoting the concept of globalisation, borderless world, digital age, knowledge-economy, hub of excellence – the list can still goes on, and we still have this disappointing level of quality.
They obviously doesn’t live to their motto “Efficient and transparent”.
As a citizen, I’m very frustrated & disappointed…
Internet & Me: A Remarried!

It has been a while since my last entry here. I was unhooked from the virtual world for almost 2 weeks, partly due to my hectic schedule. The rest I blame a telco company for their exceptional ‘world-class’ service.
I was really pissed off with my internet connection lately. It got disconnected about 2 weeks ago, and the provider unbelievably took 6 sweet days to rectify the problem. I can’t help myself giving a free lecture to the operator who happened to handle my complaints. Poor guy!
2 days before Xmas, I’ve been notified by a colleague on another service disruption. Unlike my 1st experience (wrong jumper -> 100% telco’s fault), it’s a major breakdown this time around, involving traffic to Europe. 3 submarine cables fail in the Mediterannean Sea.
Since there’re arguably nothing much to blame for the telco company, I hereby help them to publish the announcement:
ANNOUNCEMENT
SERVICE INTERUPTION
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) would like to inform its customers that its Internet services are experiencing some degradation in performance due to fault with circuits on SMW4 submarine cable systems between Palermo (Southern Italy) and Alexandria (Nothern Egyp) linking Malaysia to Europe. As a result, Internet services customers may experience slow browsing when accessing websites hosted in Europe at this time. Due to some activities to restore the circuits, traffic to Northern America may experience minor degradation while traffic to other countries is not affected.
Customers using other IP services such as VPN, critical applications and such over the Internet to EU may also be experiencing service disruption due to this incident.
Restoration works on the affected cables are already in progress while some of the links have been rerouted to alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion. We expect the complete recovery of our services by December 31, 2008. We shall make further announcements to keep you updated on the progress.
TM apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this, whilst at the same time, we would like to assure you that we are doing all that is necessary in order to restore our services as soon as possible.
Customers can call TM at 100 and select “Internet Services” or e-mail us at help@tm.com.my for any Internet related problems.
I guess I was lucky to be away for 5 days during the breakdown. I don’t have a clue of how serious the problem is. Today I surf the net, seems to be OK. Perhaps the restoration had completed.
Internet & me are no longer departed. We are remarried!
